Welcome to The Hard Fought Faith.
In the cold of winter, several years ago, a nightmare unfolded in a place I felt safe. I kept praying, hoping, and expecting the Lord to step in… but He didn’t. At least, not in the way I expected.
I imagine the Jewish people awaiting the Messiah felt much the same—they expected a warrior with a sword, but what came was a Shepherd with a staff.
The cold of winter followed me for over two years until the situation ended in the way I had hoped upon hope it would not.
I am not being vague to protect myself, or to insulate myself, but to avoid my story taking away from the most important message:
The wilderness hurts.
The enemy used the confusion of that time to discourage me in ways I’d never imagined. The faith that I’d had since I was a child was shaken.
My dad asked me, early in the season, if I would trust the Lord if he did not act in the way I saw as just.
I told him no.
Through the blinding confusion, the Lord gave me just enough. It wasn’t an answer, it wasn’t the justice I hoped, it wasn’t even enough for a full breath. It was just enough for the next step.
The season ended… the months after felt hollow. Slowly, the Lord tended to the wounds in my heart.
I know and understand and trust God in a way I never could have, but I won’t spoil it for you here.
Instead, I want to introduce you to The Hard Fought Faith.
Hard seasons are coming—if you love Jesus with everything or have no faith at all—hard is coming. Sometimes it mercifully comes in seasons that end and there is relief… sometimes in waves that won’t seem to stop.
The Hard Fought Faith is a place of hope—to be honest about the hard, but to encourage you that you’re not alone. That God has a plan.
But, even more, it is my hand reaching out to yours. If you’re sitting alone, I am sitting with you. If you’re weeping, I am weeping with you. If you’re rejoicing, I am rejoicing with you. I desperately want you to know that you’re not alone. That the God of this world has a plan even when it doesn’t seem like it.
But I won’t tell you, I will walk with you.
Testimonies, devotionals, and journal pages will share honest faith stories that I pray will encourage you to just take the smallest next step in faith.
Welcome, friend, to The Hard Fought Faith.
