THE HARD FOUGHT FAITH PODCAST 8
Growing up in a home with alcoholic parents, narcissistic abuse, and limited interactions with faith, Cassie did what she wanted, when she wanted.
And then her life collided with Christ and church…and a call to surrender.
The moment God called her to come to Him, it was “fire burning” and a voice telling her, “Don’t do it. You don’t want this.”
But Cassie stepped out in faith.
At the beginning, the cost of faith was high. Cassie lost friends, faced challenges in her marriage, and was learning to leave behind her old self.
But she kept walking.
Her church family poured the love of Jesus over her, loving her with great care.
Surrender was hard. Cassie spent much of her life depending on herself, and learning to let go and trust didn’t come easy.
Today, Cassie looks back over the hard with the hard-earned knowledge that God was always calling her to cling to Him—and that He had a purpose.
And when God calls her to let something go now, “I will not hold on to it. I will let it go. I will, if he says move, I will move. If He says jump, I will say, ‘How high?’”
Cassie shared a revelation that cemented that Jesus was real:
“For 30 years, I served my flesh…. The moment I gave my life to Christ for the last 12 years, I have been under spiritual attack…. I didn’t have spiritual attack when I served my flesh.”
Surrendering, giving your life to the Lord… It’s not always easy. Letting go of the things that you’ve experienced can feel a lot like fire burning, but Cassie sits today with a joy in the Lord that made leaving that old life and her own will for her life worth it all.
“That life was suffering…eternal suffering. The pain that I felt. And I remember being just so angry….I don’t wake up angry now…I wake up with joy in my heart. I would never go back to that.”
Is God calling you to be saved?
But maybe you hear that voice whispering, “Don’t do it.”
Listen and be encouraged by someone who heard that whisper and chose faith anyway and found that it was worth it all… Even Letting Go.
